March 22, 2020
As you are aware, Signature Preparatory began distance education on Tuesday, March 17.
The work that has been assigned up until this point and continuing through April 3 is considered official and mandatory. There will not be any assignments during the week April 6-10, as we will be on Spring Break. If for some reason we are not able to return to school as normal on April 13, please expect to continue the same distance learning protocol.
Signature Preparatory will strive hard to help all students with access to mandatory learning assignments from a distance. These learning assignments may come in the form of paper-based assignments or internet-based learning activities through many resources: Google Classroom, Zoom, HMH Online, Read 180, Math 180, iRead, and the alike. To this end, we have checked out more than 100 Chromebooks and have given out more than 100 paper-based learning packets.
We understand for some children the work may be difficult to complete without the regular, timely, and close support of your classroom teacher. For this reason teachers will be available between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm to respond to emails, make phone calls to parents/children, and conduct at-a-distance learning sessions utilizing Zoom.
For children with IEPs and 504s, please know that we are doing our very best to provide 1-to-1 or 1-to-small group virtual sessions with your child(ren)’s resource room teacher and instructional aides. Those with even more acute needs, we are working on how to best serve your child even though we are in the middle of a school shut down.
Please remain in close contact with your child(ren)’s teachers. Please read all of your emails. Please ensure that your child(ren) attend all Zoom learning sessions provided by your child(ren)’s teachers. Please ensure that your child(ren) are available for weekly phone calls made by your child(ren)’s teachers and/or instructional aides. Please reach out to your child(ten)’s teachers when you need support.
I miss you all terribly and can’t wait until we are all together again at school!
